Said Frances (photo above) graduated with a Masters degree from MIT, played Div 3 college tennis and presently works in NYC.  His favorite tennis players? "Nadal and Baghdatis!" Just like Baghdatis, the charming professional tennis player, Said, was born in Lebanon. Unlike Baghdatis who migrated to France to fine tune his tennis skills, Said went to MIT. "I learned how to hit a backhand topspin in the US.  I used to just hit a slice backhand," he explains. Welcome to NYC!

As the 2007 TennisNYC Spring, Summer, Fall League season come to a close, we are honoring the Best TennisNYC League Players of 2007 in terms of friendship, tennis skills, loyalty, great personality, positive attitude, sportsmanship, fitness and pure love for the sport of Tennis! All the 2007 TennisNYC Sports Awards winners went to Daytona Beach, Florida to receive their awards and played lots of tennis at the Florida Tennis Center. It was indeed a great Spring, Summer, Fall 2007 season of Tennis in NYC! Thank you everyone for making TennisNYC the most prestigious and the #1 Tennis league in NYC!

Alan Yeung, TennisNYC league member, won the "Best Serve and Volley Player of 2007!" Award.  He is pictured above holding his plaque of recognition.  TennisNYC gives yearly awards to its outstanding league members in NYC/NJ for their tennis skills, talent, dedication to the game and to TennisNYC league, sportsmanship, friendship and other outstanding qualities. Congratulations, Alan! Reza's (photo above R) dish was a hit during our TennisNYC Christmas Party/round robin doubles! "It's delicious!" everyone at the party said.  Marlene, on the other hand, also prepared an awesome great tasting spinach dish, and said smiling, "my kitchen was a mess!" All the effort of everyone was well worth it.  Deanna, a league member, was so happy, she emailed the next day, "last night was fun, it was a treat to play [tennis] in the warm indoors, and to enjoy the food afterwards!"  Oren and Steven Oh won the evening's raffle. One of the goals of TennisNYC is to unite people from different backgrounds through the sport of Tennis! Johan Willem (photo above right), from Europe, is not bothered by cold weather in NYC! "I don't mind the cold weather at all! Tennis is a great exercise! I enjoy it!" Johan said after his practice/lesson with Eric, the league coach.  Johan is practicing before playing matches with other TennisNYC league members.  Johan is single, works in finance, and studied for a year in Argentina. He has a great smile, and friendly easy going personality!  Hakuna, the ball girl/dog of the league is also shown above.  Hakuna loves to pick up tennis balls!!!!

Alexandre and Ita did more than 1 1/2 hours of intense drills and tennis lesson to prepare them for the Fall Tennis League.  Alexandre played nationals in Canada before moving to NYC few months ago.  He was a ranked player in Canada, has an awesome talent and great footwork/speed! Both players have great friendly personality.  Ita graduated from Princeton, very bubbly and shared tons of funny trader jokes after the drills.  She has a great backhand and excellent conditioning!

I LOVE the SPORT!
Scott Schneider (photo above) is very happy that he picked up the sport of tennis.  He transitioned from playing baseball to playing tennis which explained why he learned tennis so fast!  In just barely 7 weeks of Level I and Level 2 tennis lessons at a private club, he already showed solid fundamentals! Go Scott!!! Welcome to TennisNYC league!

William played for his high school tennis team and would like to start playing again on a regular basis.  On the other hand, Anthony, who likes playing beach volleyball, is very eager to improve his tennis skills.  Welcome to SPRING and SUMMER 2008 tennis league season!

(L-R) Jacquie and Marlene forgot about the stress of their demanding corporate jobs during their TennisNYC match.  Both ladies love the game of tennis, have great friendly personality and enjoyed the exercise and fun friendly competition/atmosphere of the league.  Win or lose, TennisNYC is about FUN, great exercise and meeting nice friendly tennis players in NYC!!!

Sunil (photo above L), originally from Sydney, looks very much like the Australian Superstar, Mark Phillipousis.  Just like the Australian PRO, Sunil's got the looks, easy going personality and the game! Vishal Moorjani's (photo above) tennis game is exactly like Federer except he is a lefty.  He has an awesome one hand backhand, strong forehand, excellent conditioning, complemented by good looks and intelligence.  He just graduated from a reputable University where he played Div 2 college tennis.  He is presently working for his family who runs a successful global garment business. Our league members play all over NYC: Central Park Tennis courts, 119th courts on the Upper West Side, Red Clay courts on 95st and Riverside, West Side Hwy courts, downtown courts, and some public and private courts in NJ (Jersey City, Hoboken, Edgewater etc) and NYC. Our league members are from NYC, NJ, Long Island, Connecticut and some parts of New York. YOU CHOOSE WHERE/WHEN YOU WANT TO PLAY, 7days a week, day and night, indoors and outdoors!!
