7-6 (7-4 tie break). Alan said after the
match: "My volleys were not working as well
as my serve." Eric said after the
match: "It was a good set." Eric's
hitting partner, Tony, observed, "Eric's game
improved so much in just a few weeks. I
mean, look at his serve, beautiful. His
first serve is flat and hard and his second serve
even has a kick." Alan had a week off
from work. He works full time as a corporate
accountant for a major finance company in
Manhattan while Eric is presently working on his
Doctorate in Math degree at NYU.

Indian-American who grew up in the US. She
just joined the TennisNYC.com tennis league few
days ago to work on her game as well as her
physical conditioning. Suman has great
tennis technique and likes to hit the ball
hard. "I played tennis in high school
and I was a part of my high school tennis
team," she said. Suman is currently
finishing her Masters in Economics degree at
NYU. Matthew, on the other hand, is a busy
filmmaker who is presently doing a documentary
about the life of a punk rock fan.

TERMINATOR was FINALLY BEATEN!!!! The Unbeatable German
Tennis Terminator is no longer unbeatable!!! (Photo above L-R
at the NY Waterway Ferry Terminal) Andre Groenwoud, the German
writer def. Michael Stache, the German Tennis Terminator 7-5
6-2 in Edgewater last Tuesday night, May 31, 2005! It took a
fellow German to beat Michael Stache who had the longest
winning streak in the league. Michael, who was ranked #7
in Munich was defeated by Andre, ranked #9. "I'm
sorry to disappoint you, Koko" Andre said with excitement
after the match. "Michael is no longer the Tennis
Terminator." When I asked Andre how he did it, he said,
"I attacked Michael's backhand the whole match and when
he came to the net, I made great passing shots. I also tried
to make the rallies longer and exploit on Michael's
impatience." However, Andre was still complimentary in
the end, "Michael still has the best serve in
Germany." Unfortunately, this will be Michael Stache's
last match. He will be going back to Munich next week!

a lot of winners to beat me. He also varied his
shots by not just hitting power shots from the baseline.
He can also change the directions of the ball. I
would predict the ball going cross court but then he
would place it down the line. It was a good match
though. I can finally trust my new racquet [Head
Liquid Metal], my shots were going where I wanted it to
go."
Jean said after the match: "During our first
match, I just hit the ball hard from the baseline.
This time, I changed the pace of my ball and gave him
variety of shots. I also went to the net on occasion and

Jean said after the match: "From the warm up I could tell
that I was going to play at a high level to be competitive and
that I did. He was the best opponent I have faced in a long
long time. Great serves, moves well, and he hits the
ball deep and hard from both wings. Realizing, the challenge I took care of my serve and managed
to break him twice for the first set (6-3). In the second set,
I managed a quick break of serve with some deep ground
strokes, great serves, and digging deep. At 5-3, the
bell rang and we had to abandon the match. We vowed to
play each other again, and it is an opportunity that I am
looking forward to. Very competitive match, and a worthy foe

 David Perez said after the match: "Michael hits a
very clean solid ball from the baseline. He is a good
player! Next time, I will have to work on my serve!"
David's match against Michael was so intense that at one point
during the rallies when he missed a ball, he screamed in
frustration, "Cono, hijo de p_ ta!" I soon learned
afterwards that David was a Spanish speaking Cuban!
Michael Stache said: "I partied too much last
night. I drank a lot of beer. David is a good
player!"
 Jerry O, (The Filipino player who hits the ball like
Monica Seles) said: "I like playing with good
players. It's a good challenge for me."
COMMENTS from the spectators: Yaya
who was watching the match from behind the fence said that
Michael Stache's level can be potentially a 6.0 but he doesn't
believe Michael is consistent enough to beat the solid 6.0
players. Yung wasn't too impressed and left early. Eric
Capuano said "Michael knows how to get full extension up
to the ball and a good wrist snap at the top [referring to
Michael's serve]" Charlie tried to heckle David and
screamed, "Come on Michael Chang!"
NOTE: Michael Stache is ranked #7 at his Tennis Club in
Munich, Germany. He is one of the best players in the
league. His serve tops 100mph consistently. He has
been playing tennis since age 5. Has great all around
tennis game and has been unbeatable. He even took on the NYU
college team! On the other hand, David Perez has a
solid baseline game. He hits the ball hard with tons of
topspin that kicks up high on both sides.)
